Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egypt
People talking about Ancient Egypt are usually
referring to the dynastic period where Egypt was ruled by a King or Pharaoh.
The dynastic period lasted from around 3100 BCE until 30 BCE with King Narmer
being the first and the very famous Cleopatra VII. Soon after Cleopatra's
death Egypt was absorbed by Rome.

WORSHIP
Ancient Egypt is well known for the pyramids, hieroglyphs, mummifies rulers, and the worship of Egyptian gods and goddessed. When I was in High School I had a fascination with the ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian gods and goddesses after reading the Percy Jackson novels.
The ways the people worshiped these gods by praying to them in temples and in their daily lives is unique compared to the current days methods.
MATERIALS BOARD
Gold is a colour seen in many depictions of Ancient Egyptian gods as well as the busts of Pharaoh's. The colour represents wealth, prosperity, courage, and wisdom which were important qualities for the Egyptians. I chose to use gold and brass as accent colours in my design because I believe the shiny material gives the design an air of elegance to a rather simplistic space.
One of the main materials used for construction in ancient Egypt was limestone. A hardy material that allowed them to build some of the amazing structures that still exist in the present day such as the pyramids and the Sphinx. Even though it is a strong material in the time period with the limited technology it didn't come in many colours. The light tan colour of the limestone is shown in this design through the beige accent chair as well as the beautiful intricate design of the wallpaper.
The sandy colour of the light fixture also reflects both of these things. The glass ties in with the reflective nature of the precious metals. And the coarse natural fibre that makes up the knots of the cord bring in the earthy colours of the Egyptian desert.
